Vista Taos Packing Guide

​Please follow these packing guidelines to make your arrival and admissions process smooth.

What to Bring:

Clothing

  • Clothing for seven days. Laundry is available.

  • Comfortable items like jeans, casual pants, sweatshirts, appropriate-length shorts, skirts, or casual dresses.

  • Underwear and socks for seven days.

  • Winter: layers, warm jacket, gloves.

  • Shoes: flat-soled shoes or sneakers. Optional boots, sunglasses, hats.

  • Workout clothes for the on-campus gym.

 

Toiletries and Personal Care

  • Toiletries without alcohol: shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, mouthwash, lotion.

  • Personal items: razors, nail clippers, brushes, hair dryers, curling irons, straighteners, hair ties, makeup. Sharp items are used only under staff supervision.

  • Women: Please bring a 30-day supply of feminine hygiene products for your stay.

Medications

  • Prescription medications in original labeled containers.

  • Over-the-counter medications and supplements must be sealed and unopened.

  • All medications must be approved by the Medical Staff at admission. Non-approved items will be returned at discharge.

 

Tobacco and Vaping

  • Cigarettes: Clients may bring a 30-day supply of cigarettes, which must be in unopened packages upon arrival.

  • Vaping products: Clients may bring one 1 vape device, which must be unopened upon arrival, along with unopened cartridges sufficient for a 30-day stay. Multiple devices are not permitted. Sharing or distributing vaping products with other clients is not allowed.

  • No chewing tobacco, pouches, pipes, or large cigars.

 

Other Items

  • Paper, envelopes, and stamps for letter writing.

  • Identification: insurance card, government-issued ID, and debit or credit cards.

  • Prepaid debit card required for incidentals.

  • No cash.

  • Electronics and valuables will be stored for the duration of the Primary Program.

What Not to Bring:

Clothing

  • Anything referencing drugs, alcohol, or profanity.

  • No short shorts, tank tops, crop tops, low-cut or spaghetti strap tops, or tight-fitting yoga or jogger pants.

Products and Food

  • Aerosols of any kind.

  • Perfume, cologne, body sprays, or other heavily scented products.

  • Outside food and beverages are prohibited, including candy and snacks.

Prohibited Items

  • Weapons.

  • Drugs, alcohol, or any paraphernalia. These may result in denied admission or administrative discharge.

  • Sex toys or lingerie.

  • Pets or animals of any kind, including emotional support animals.

  • Cameras or any video or audio recording devices.

  • Electronic devices are not permitted and will be stored.

Other Items Not Recommended

  • Bicycles, roller skates, skateboards, or similar items.

  • Valuable jewelry or watches. These are allowed but discouraged.
