At Vista Taos Renewal Center, your privacy is of the utmost importance. We commit to protecting your safety, confidentiality and rights within the law throughout your treatment experience, and adhere to a strict set of privacy regulations and internal policies to do so.
Client Rights and Confidentiality
Vista Taos is committed to providing all addiction rehab patients with a safe and structured environment in which to begin a new life of addiction recovery.
To ensure the privacy and confidentiality of every patient, Vista Taos adheres to a strict set of federal and state privacy regulations and internal policies. These polices specifically protect the confidentiality of patient identity and patient clinical information.
While undergoing addiction recovery treatment, patients have certain rights and responsibilities granted by federal laws. We are fully compliant with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and 42 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Part 2 regulations. Vista Taos also adheres to regulations from the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
Vista Taos is committed to protecting your safety, confidentiality and rights within the law throughout your addiction recovery treatment program. A complete list of patient rights is outlined in the Notice of Privacy Practices section in the patient handbook. The handbook will be provided to each patient after admission has taken place. The patient handbook also outlines the responsibilities that are required of patients during their stay.
At Vista Taos, any consent provided will be considered informed consent. Informed consent implies that you fully understand the purpose of the signed release and your rights. Please carefully read all release forms you are asked to sign. Our admissions staff can answer any questions you may have regarding the release of your clinical and medical information. In general, staff members cannot disclose information to any individual or agency without your written consent. You also have the right to revoke or restrict any releases during your stay. Release forms are valid for one year from the date of signing.
Vista Taos works within legal and ethical guidelines to protect your confidentiality during an addiction recovery treatment program. We will not willingly violate your confidentiality unless there is a concern that you may pose a threat to your life or to another person. In these cases, we are obligated by law to notify authorities in an effort to protect you and others.
Anonymity is the cornerstone of 12-Step recovery program and is absolutely imperative for patients in treatment. We ask all patients and family members to make every effort to refrain from discussing other patients’ issues or concerns. Violation of a fellow patient‘s or their family member‘s anonymity in treatment is a serious concern and is considered a federal offense.
