Webinar Held for Addiction Professionals to Learn More about Chronic Pain & Substance Abuse

Vista Taos - Monday, March 28, 2011

The Vendome Group, publisher of Addiction Professional magazine, has announced an online seminar, a.k.a.  a webinar, to help addiction therapy professionals learn the latest techniques and information surrounding addiction in relation to chronic pain. Many people who suffer from chronic pain will become addicted to drugs, mostly pain pills. Vicodin addiction is quite common amongst those who are dealing with pain on a daily basis.

Those who are interested in attending the webinar can visit Vendome’s webpage and register in advance. The webinar is set to air on March 30th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. EST. It will discuss how physical pain can trigger the desire to use drugs. The point of the webinar is to help people who suffer from both chronic pain and drug addiction to work through both problems without sacrificing the pain relief. Special care needs to be taken with someone who has real pain complicated by addiction.

Addiction to Vicodin is a very real problem in the United States. It’s fairly easy to obtain and incredibly easy to get addicted to. Vicodin, known generically as hydrocodone, is being sold on the black market at incredibly high prices. A drug bust just recently in Santa Fe, New Mexico showed that just one bottle of the generic pain reliever was going for $150.00. With insurance and a doctor’s prescription, it’s less than $10 a bottle. Vicodin addiction can be an expensive habit with damaging results to your organs. If you have chronic pain and suffer from Vicodin addiction, consider rehabilitation that focuses on not only helping you achieve sobriety, but healing you completely. That’s what Vista Taos Renewal Center is all about. With complimentary therapies like massage and acupuncture, the pain of detox is lessened, but those who suffer from chronic pain can also feel relief. Vicodin addiction is not the answer to your chronic pain, treatment is.

Lindsay Lohan’s Behavioral Issues in Rehab

Vista Taos - Friday, January 21, 2011

Once again, Lindsay Lohan has stirred up trouble during her treatment process at a drug rehabilitation center in California.  She has been investigated for battery against a female staff member at the treatment center, but that report ended with the employee being fired for confidentiality problems.  The employee consented to give an interview about the abuse she received from Lohan, which was not allowed by the center.  Staff members are not allowed to give out names or information about patients staying at the Betty Ford Center.

Sources state that Miss Lohan and other patients who are under order to remain in the care of the facility to receive drug rehabilitation left without the center’s knowledge to consume alcohol.  This isn’t the first time she has been a patient at a rehabilitation center.  She was ordered to return until January of 2011 for violating the terms of her court order for drunken driving.  Perhaps the center is not the best place for her to get sober.  When she was asked to submit a breathalyzer test, she allegedly attacked the staff member.

When a court order is put in place to make someone enter rehabilitation for drugs or alcohol, it can be much more beneficial than if the person is simply sentenced to jail time.  However, the person has to want to become sober.  It appears obvious that Miss Lohan has some dependency issues that are not being addressed or treated to the fullest while at the clinic.  Her next mistake she makes while on probation could result in an even heftier incarceration sentence.

Vista Taos Drug Rehabilitation in New Mexico has helped so many people get the help they need to overcome their addictions.  There is hope for those who have an addictive style, like Lohan, as she is only 24 years old and has now been to drug rehabilitation five times.  Could this final stay be the one that keeps her clean?  It all depends on the patient’s desire to be an active participant in her treatment to achieve long term recovery.

“Take Back” System Encourages Getting Prescription Pills off the Street in Oklahoma

Vista Taos - Monday, November 15, 2010

Citizens of Oklahoma can take place in the DEA sponsored Take Back programs that are geared towards helping people dispose of prescription pills that take up space in medicine cabinets all over the state.  These drugs often include leftover antibiotics and other short-term medications that no longer need to be taken or have simply expired.  It’s good to get rid of these medications properly. Through the years, some of us may have disposed of medications by flushing them down the toilet or tossing them into the trash which can cause environmental concerns.  However, prescription pill abuse in Oklahoma is a big concern and many people feed their addictions simply by raiding medicine cabinets in the homes of others.  If you no longer need your prescription pain medicine, please consider taking advantage of one of these disposal programs.

In regards to drug rehab, Oklahoma has seen a rise in pain pill abuse.  These programs are put in place to help keep these drugs off the street.  When these “Take Back” programs are in effect, major areas of Oklahoma, like Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Norman provide easy drop off locations for citizens to take advantage of.  If you or someone you care for has a problem with prescription pill abuse, seeking help is as easy as placing a call to Vista Taos Renewal Center at 1-800-245-8267.

Please help the DEA in Oklahoma keep these drugs from getting into the wrong hands.  Find out where you can properly dispose of all medications you no longer use and be a part of the battle against pill abuse.  For more information about the narcotics bureau in Oklahoma, please visit: www.ok.gov/obndd/
