Brooke Mueller Arrested in Colorado for Cocaine Possession

Vista Taos - Thursday, February 02, 2012

Charlie Sheen’s twin boys may have another troubled parent in their lives. The boys’ mother, Brooke Mueller, was arrested on Saturday, December 3, 2011 for assaulting a woman in a popular Aspen bar. Mueller was also in possession of cocaine, which she intended to distribute. Cocaine possession with intent to distribute is a felony.

Mueller is no stranger to drug and alcohol charges. In September 1996, she was arrested for driving under the influence. In March 2001, Mueller faced charges for cocaine possession, but since she had no drugs in her system, the charges were dropped. In May 2011, Mueller entered an outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, which she completed.

As the primary custodian of her twin boys, Mueller has been the more stable influence in the twins’ lives. Sheen assaulted Mueller on Christmas Day 2009, and his past drug and alcohol abuse has been extensive. Sheen has recently battled and overcome his abuse issues very publicly, and now he appears to be back on track in all aspects of his life. In fact, in August 2011, Sheen and Mueller vacationed together, and they have recently tried to resolve their conflicts.

Unfortunately, despite Sheen’s ability to turn his drug abuse around, his ex-wife appears to be on track to a potential cocaine addiction. At this point, since charges are only pending (until her court appearance on December 19), the twins still remain in her custody.

It is hopeful that Mueller can get the help she needs for her cocaine addiction through a drug rehabilitation program, like Vista Taos Renewal Center. Getting her life back on track and battling her cocaine addiction could very well be the stability that her twin boys need.

Ivy-League Cocaine Deal

Vista Taos - Wednesday, September 28, 2011

A Columbia University student recently admitted to selling cocaine in what has been said to be one of the biggest drug busts on an Ivy League campus. Harrison David, an engineering major, is one of five students arrested that were allegedly involved in the drug ring that was uncovered when David sold to an undercover police officer. Only David has pleaded guilty and now faces six months in jail and five years of probation.

Through the students’ drug operation, they were illegally selling multiple types of medications and drugs out of dorms and fraternity houses located on Columbia’s campus. Undercover officers bought a staggering $11,000 dollars worth of various drugs from these five students before arresting them on charges of selling and distributing drugs.

They have all pled not guilty and are looking to the court to get cocaine rehab instead of having to serve time for their offenses. Unfortunately for them, the court might not be so inclined to just give them treatment for cocaine addiction without also punishing them for breaking the law.

But the students involved are hoping that cocaine rehab will not only get them the help they need to live a drug-free life, but also grant them some lenience with the court for taking the initiative in getting away from an illegal and unhealthy lifestyle. All of the students have admitted to having problems with drug addiction. If they do follow through with getting treatment for cocaine and other drug-related addictions, it could potentially get their charges dismissed or, at the least, dropped down to misdemeanors.

These students all had bright futures ahead of them and were blessed to attend a prestigious school. Due to addiction, all those bright futures have been put on hold. But it is never too late to get the help needed to conquer addiction and get back on the right track to a drug-free life. Musician Pete Doherty Jailed for Cocaine Possession

Vista Taos - Tuesday, June 07, 2011

English singer, songwriter, poet and highly-publicized drug addict Pete Doherty has been sentenced to 6 months in jail after being charged with cocaine possession. This is not the first time Doherty has been arrested for drug possession, nor the first time he has served time in jail. He has a lengthy list of drug-related offenses and has stayed multiple times at various drug rehabilitation centers. Cocaine addiction is complicated; addiction therapy really needs to be tailored not only to the drug being abused, but for the abuser as well.

Cocaine is very easy to become addicted to. When drugs affect the pleasure sensors in our brains and produce feelings of empowerment and euphoria, addiction is likely soon to follow. The problem is, cocaine addiction can quickly cause a user to build up a tolerance; more and more cocaine is needed to maintain the desired high. It’s a common drug term known as: chasing the dragon. No matter how much you use, users will often agree they never feel as good as they did when they got their first high from cocaine, or when they stopped for a prolonged period of time and then started up again.

The body’s tolerance to cocaine is really not much of a tolerance at all. The body does not tolerate the drug any more than it did when a person first starts to use it. It is blocking receptors and causing problems in the brain’s tissue; it does not want more of the drug, your brain just makes you think you want more. Cocaine addiction can easily lead to death from heart failure for those who try to find that first-time high feeling. It's not worth your life. Cocaine is one of the more expensive and self-destructive habits you can have. If you or a loved one need help with cocaine addiction rehab, please contact New Mexico-based rehabilitation clinic: Vista Taos Renewal Center. Taos is a quiet village, north of Albuquerque. It sets the scene for a peaceful rehabilitation experience.

Reggae Singer Buju Banton Convicted in Cocaine Deal

Vista Taos - Thursday, March 24, 2011

Jamaican reggae singer, Buju Banton was charged in February for conspiracy to deliver. In 2009, the singer was arrested when he was believed to be setting up a cocaine trafficking arrangement. He is facing at least 15 years in prison. This was the second trial held for this case; his first ended in a hung jury. He maintains his innocence and plans to file an appeal to be released on bond from jail.

Cocaine addiction continues to be a large drug problem in the United States, especially in big, southern cities like Austin and Houston, Texas. So close to the Mexican border, the drugs begin their journey to the United States. It’s easy for American drug addicts to obtain the drug as often as they can afford it. It doesn’t take long before a person can find themselves addicted to cocaine. It is an expensive habit, but it also carries serious health risks.

Cocaine works like an acid. If snorted, it begins eating away at healthy tissue in the nasal passages. Often, long-term cocaine addiction will lead to a deviated septum, needing surgery to be repaired. It is difficult for your heart to function well under the influence of cocaine, as it’s classified in the “speed” category of illicit drugs. An overdose can quickly lead to a fatality. It’s hard to get immediate, proper treatment in case of an overdose and the victim and suffer cardiac arrest within minutes. No matter how strong of a hold cocaine addiction has on a person, there is always the chance to start over, leaving the addiction behind you. Learn why Vista Taos Renewal Center has so much success with their course of treatments and how you or your loved one can have a life where substance abuse does not control you. Bruno Mars Faces Cocaine Charges

Vista Taos - Thursday, March 10, 2011

Musician Bruno Mars is accepting a plea deal in his Las Vegas arrest that led him to be charged with felony cocaine possession.  He will have to pay a hefty fine, complete 200 hours of community service and complete a drug counseling program as well as keep himself out of trouble for one year for the charge to be erased from his permanent record.  Many aren’t as lucky in regards to cocaine addiction.

Cocaine addiction can be devastating because of the lasting effects it has.  Not only is it one of the more costly substances to abuse, but it can cause heart problems and cause your nasal passages and septum to deteriorate.  Many addicts have heard the term “deviated septum” after long-term use of cocaine or other drugs that are snorted.  Cocaine can quickly make your life spin out of control.
